“I can’t find it,” I cried… again… from the kitchen.

“It’s there, just where I told you it was the last time you needed it,” my wife said…again…from the living room.

I had gone to the kitchen to find a particular item. She had told me the cabinet and exact shelf, and yet I still couldn’t locate it…again.

This scene has been played and replayed a great many times throughout our marriage. I am looking, she is giving directions, until finally we both give up and she walks directly to the cabinet and retrieves the item that has, I promise you, just magically appeared on that shelf.

I think it has to be a ‘guy blindness’ thing, or else my wife owns super powers that she has never admitted to having.

Reminds me of so many people that are looking for a direction in their life. They search and search, and yet cannot locate what it is they are looking for in life. Others around them can attempt to give them direction, and sometimes there are those who do listen. But all too often the searcher doesn’t seem to even have a desire or a clue how to listen and heed their advice.

And those same people do not seem to know that they can get direction for success in life from God’s Holy Word. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto Me, and I will answer thee and show you things you do not know.” Jesus states in Matthew7:7, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.”

But there is a caveat, a qualification, to these directions and promises. They are made for God’s children. Outside the family? Does not apply. But remember, He also said to everyone, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) You may not know him now, but I promise you anyone can become part of that family that He guides so carefully.
