Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Oh the many challenges we face in these days of hard times. You may find yourself disillusioned & experiencing more than what you consider to be your share of days and nights of difficulties.

We are witnessing shootings and killings throughout the world. Sad to say that we need not go to the big cities or abroad for the wars of crimes, family abuse, and thievery are happening here in our communities, in fact, right next door to us. You may feel that God is so far away and has forgotten you. Faint not, faint not my friend.

He may be bringing you through a desperately demanding period in your life or through a dry, dusty wilderness experience. Possibly you have been humiliated as you have struggled to hold onto your faith in an entirely new and unfamiliar set of circumstances.

Keep your eyes looking up! “Look up, I tell you.” You’ve probably been tempted to challenge God as you look around and say, “Why me? Why me, Lord? What have I done to deserve what I’m going through? This, life is just not fair. You know I love You, so why must I go through all of this?”

You may have been tempted to look across the aisle at church, even across the street from where you live or across the dinning room table and ask, “Lord, why aren’t you dealing with that person the way you are with me?”

Understand something my beloved reader.  God is not calling everyone to do what He’s called you to do.  Ah, the question now becomes, do you know what God has called you to do? Is it to be a Sunbeam? A greeter at church? That person who calls the shut-in? Go to the nursing homes and read to the patients? Cut your neighbors yard? Smile and say “hello” to that person you always seem to avoid? Maybe you can give some thought to having family devotion at home? Should you still have doubts, then there’s advice from Helen H. Lemmel that says: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
