His Name is “God

I was awaken early the other morning to the thought of an oldie but goodie song from the past. I first remember hearing it sung by Tennessee Ernie Ford. The words began by asking the question:

“Who made the mountains? Who made the trees? Who made the rivers flow to the sea? Who made the flowers bloom in the spring? Who wrote the song for the robin to sing? And who placed the moon in the starry sky? Somebody bigger than you and I.

He lights the way when the road get rough, and keeps you company. With love to guide you, He walks beside you, just like He walks with me.

When I’m discouraged and filled with despair, who gives me courage to go on from there? And who gives me faith that will never die? Somebody bigger than you and I.”

We ought never to be ashamed to express our love and thoughts of God and to God. Geneses 1:1 reads, “In the beginning God created the heaven and earth.”

A short time after Tennessee Earnie Ford’s song, another song hit the gospel charts, “Oh Happy Day, Oh Happy Day, when Jesus came, and washed my sins away.” It then became so popular; it was a crossover from the gospel charts to the pop charts.

It seems as though we are reverting back and dodging His Holy Name, “GOD.” Society has been successful in taking God out of the school through prayer. Efforts are underway to remove the term “In God we trust” from our currency. The Ten Commandments are being removed from many state properties.

Paul concludes this devotional for me with the following thought. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16.
