Happy Birthday

My recent birthday took place on May 1st which caused me to look back over my life and my many experiences, some good and some bad. So often, the older one gets the more we tend to reflect on our past life. The various challenges, what we did or didn’t do. Plans to go places and didn’t. Finally, the many what if’s. What if I had gone to this college? What if I had married that one person?

Lady (my wife) and I were talking about the various changes in our lives and the many directions our live could have gone. We asked the question of would we change anything. We both pondered the question for several silent moments and reach the same conclusion. “NO” no changes,

The many trials, ups and downs, sickness, even several home goings in our lives which helped us to be the persons we have become today. How blessed to be used by the Lord in the furthering of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This all sounds so perfect but as we know a coin has two side’s, as does a dollar bill, therefore in retrospect, had I/Me, been more attentive in my younger spiritual life, I would have spent more time studying God’s wordUsed my quiet time with the Lord more oftenSpoke less and opened my ears to become a better listenerSpent more time with my wife just shopping.

Someone once wrote, “We have choices, and the greatest power we can possess is the power of CHOICE. The Psalmist wrote: “Delight thy self in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

As I re-read these thoughts, I’m coming to grips with the fact that I have been blessed these many years, despite the attack of my present sickness; yet my testimony is how good and wonderful the Master has been to me.

My birthday wish to one and all is that it never hurts to take the time to periodically (like daily) reassess your walk with the Lord…Update your Goals…Set your Priorities straight…Focus on what God has called you to do. And when your birthday rolls around, may the Grace of God and the Sweet communion of the Holy Spirit shower you with much love.
